How What Then? Writer's Hub collects, uses, and protects your information.

Last updated: June 2026 (revised)

This Privacy Policy explains how What Then? Writer's Hub ("the Site"), operated by Brittany Wieers, handles information when you use our services. We are committed to protecting your privacy — especially for our younger writers.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Story Endings & Public Content

Story endings you submit are displayed publicly on the Site alongside your chosen username. Please do not include your real name, address, school, phone number, or any other identifying details in a story ending — once published, it is visible to all visitors.

If you submitted content you would like removed, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

4. Community Safety & Content Moderation

Because our community welcomes writers of all ages, including young writers, we take safety seriously. We review flagged content and may remove story endings or suspend accounts that violate our community standards (see Terms of Service). This includes content involving bullying, harassment, impersonation, plagiarism, or inappropriate material.

Content moderation may involve a human reviewer reading submitted story endings. This is done solely to keep the community safe and positive.

5. Payments

Prompt unlock purchases are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card number or other payment details. Please review your payment provider's privacy policy for details on how your financial information is handled.

We do store a record that your account has been granted paid access, so you do not need to re-purchase after logging in.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

The Site uses browser local storage and secure cookies to remember your session and prompt access status. Here is what is stored and why:

Because your unlock access is tied to your account on our server, clearing your browser's local storage or cookies will sign you out but will not permanently remove your access. Simply log back in and your unlock status will be fully restored. You only lose access if you deactivate your account.

You can clear local storage and cookies at any time through your browser settings. Note that doing so will sign you out of the Site.

7. Children's Privacy

What Then? Writer's Hub is designed to be a safe, creative space for writers of all ages, including children. We are committed to complying with applicable children's privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account or submitted personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at whatthenbook@outlook.com and we will promptly delete that information.

A note for parents

We encourage parents and guardians to review their child's story submissions and discuss online safety. If you have any concerns about how your child is using the Site, please reach out — we are happy to help.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account information and submitted story endings for as long as your account is active. If you would like to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at whatthenbook@outlook.com and we will process your request within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Third-Party Links

The Site contains links to third-party websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This Privacy Policy applies only to What Then? Writer's Hub. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any external site.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email.
